The Gowanus "Bat Cave" is a former power station on the shores of
the Gowanus Canal. It has been abandoned for sometime and in the early 2000's was home to a community of teenage runaways.
It has also been a hot spot for NYC graffiti artists who cover almost every inch of free space. It was purchased by developer Joshua Rechnitz for $7 million with plans to turn it into a gallery and artists studios.
